The Children’s and Youth Choruses of Greater Dallas are pleased to present their second annual concert in Mesquite honoring local composer Dede Duson. “Earth and Sky” celebrates the beauty of the changing season. Featured composers are Benjamin Britten, Samuel Barber, Dede Duson and Ron Nelson with Native American texts as well as those by Gwen Frostic and Thomas Ahlburn.
The concert is sponsored by the Dede Duson Endowment as designated by Jean Rogers Winchell and by the Mesquite Arts Council.

Famed organist Bradley Hunter Welch will join the Children’s Choruses and Youth Chorus of Greater Dallas to celebrate this season of thanksgiving and celebration. In a beautiful complement to the ringing voices of these children and young adults, Mr. Welch will play the renowned Herman W. & Amelia H. Lay Family Concert Organ. Welcome the winter holidays with new and old favorites, including the Youth Chorus’ performance of an excerpt from John Rutter’s Magnificat.

The Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas will feature the Dallas Black Dance Theatre’s youngest professional group, BLOOM. The Children’s and Youth Choruses will be joined by the CCGD Neighborhood Chorus from West Dallas Community School. Please join us for this diverse display of joyous song and dance. The Youth Chorus will cap the evening with selections from Brahms’ Liebeslieder Waltzes.
Before the concert, the Children’s Chorus will host its annual Gala and Auction. For information on gala tickets, please contact the Chorus office.

In “Classical Spring,” the Children’s Chorus demonstrates why it has been invited to perform at such famous venues as Carnegie Hall and the Vatican. You must hear these children and youth to believe that young people can exhibit such musicianship and artistry. The five choirs will perform selections from composers such as Bach, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Brahms, Vaughan Williams, and more, including Mozart’s Te Deum.
