Children's Chorus Audition Information (Grades 4-8 in 2020-2021)
All children's chorus auditions are conducted by CCGD's Artistic Director, Ms. Nott. Each audition will take approximately ten minutes. Your child will be asked to sing the five vowel sounds (wee, weh, wah, woh, woo) and then will be asked to sing Jubilate Deo and a short passage of a song they have been working on in their chorus. Ms. Nott will also look at the child's participation in their current chorus. She will be looking for eager, expressive participants who exhibit personal, rehearsal and performance discipline, including tall posture that requires only an occasional prompt, being the first to follow directions, and having excellent attendance.
Youth Chorus Audition Information (Grades 9-12 in 2020-2021)
These auditions, for high school women and men, conducted by either Ms. Henson or Ms. Pfaffenberger, will consist of singing basic vocalises, a short sight reading exercise and singing a prepared piece or favorite hymn of your choosing. Your singer may also sing a piece which was performed in Concert I, II, or Women's Youth this season. An accompanist will be provided so please bring the score, book or sheet music for the accompanist. Pre-recorded accompaniments, pop songs and songs from musical theatre are not appropriate for this setting.
Recruitment Tuition Credit
Word‐of‐mouth is the most effective way to attract new singers to CCGD! CCGD is continuing the Recruitment Tuition Credit (RTC) program for CCGD families that recommend CCGD to new singers who are accepted and join. Singers auditioning for admission have the opportunity to indicate on their application if someone recruited them. Each CCGD family that enrolls a new singer will receive a $75 credit to be applied to their tuition the next season. For more information, please see the RTC Program Questions and Answers document below.
