DALLAS, TX (April 12, 2018) - The Foundation for Music Education proudly announces Dallas resident Cynthia Nott as its inaugural recipient of the Keynote Award. The Keynote Award recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to music education.  This prestigious annual award was initiated by the Foundation's Board of Trustees to encourage and support those making a real difference in music education today.

Nott has served as Artistic Director of the Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas since its inception in 1997.  Her career as a classroom teacher and artistic director has impacted thousands of young musicians in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Under her leadership, the chorus has grown dramatically, earned the respect of the Dallas area music community, and impressed audiences by its artistic excellence.  In addition to its own concert schedule, Nott has prepared the chorus to perform with the Dallas Symphony, Dallas Bach Society, Dallas Winds, Orpheus Chamber Singers, and the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra.

“Cynthia Nott really does embody what this award is all about.  Her incredible career accomplishments are only part of what makes her our Keynote Award choice. Her great passion and desire to nurture young musicians across the decades is leaving a legacy for music education,” said Dr. Fred Hardin, president of The Foundation for Music Education.

Nott continues to serve as a clinician and consultant for music teachers, conductors, and singers throughout the United States. She is also a frequent guest conductor, appearing by invitation with youth choirs across the country.

There will be a formal presentation of the Foundation’s Keynote Award at the Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas Gala to be held at the Dallas Petroleum Club on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at 5:00 p.m.
