DALLAS, TX (February 24, 2020) – Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas (CCGD) is thrilled to announce that Kim Noltemy, Ross Perot President & CEO of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, has been named the organization’s 2020 Advocate for the Arts award recipient. The Advocate for the Arts award is presented yearly to honor one individual or organization that has made remarkable contributions to the growth and advancement of the arts in the Dallas community. The award will be presented at CCGD’s Gala and Auction, which takes place April 26, 2020 at the Belo Mansion.

Noltemy remarked, “On behalf of our board of directors, team and stakeholders, we are honored to accept CCGD’s Advocate for the Arts award. CCGD provides the training that all children need to have rich, productive lives. They are building the next generation of citizens who will be our industry and philanthropic leaders.”
Noltemy joined the Dallas Symphony Association as the Ross Perot President & CEO in January 2018. Since her arrival, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra has embarked on a bold strategic plan and has implemented numerous new initiatives that will have a long-term impact on the landscape of classical music in Dallas and the entire industry.

“This award is a fitting tribute to the incredible impact Kim Noltemy has had on the arts and the Dallas community,” said Megan Heber, Executive Director of Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas. “As the official children’s chorus of DSO, CCGD has seen firsthand the incredible transformation Kim has already made in her two years in Dallas. We are thrilled to recognize her with this award.”

The award will be presented at CCGD’s Gala and Auction on April 26, 2020 at the Belo Mansion. Funds raised from the event will support CCGD’s tuition assistance program, Summer Singing Camp, in-school concerts at Dallas area schools, and community concerts in the greater Dallas area.

About Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas

Now in its 23rd season, Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas is one of the nation’s largest and most prestigious youth choral programs. Founded in 1996 by eight Dallas musicians, Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas unites children of all demographic and socioeconomic backgrounds through the shared performance of choral music, provides area youth with a forum to excel as choral musicians, and serves as a resource for the Dallas music community.

Hailed by New York Philharmonic Music Director Jaap van Zweden as “one of the best children’s choruses I’ve ever heard,” Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas has appeared regularly with Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) since 1997. Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas began performing at the Meyerson Symphony Center in 2006, becoming the nation’s only youth chorus to hold its season in a premier music venue and was named the official children’s chorus of DSO in 2013. Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas has appeared by invitation at the American Choral Directors Association convention, one of the highest honors a chorus can receive.
