DALLAS, TX (March 27, 2018) – The Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas (CCGD) is thrilled to announce that Neiman Marcus has been named the organization’s 2018 Advocate for the Arts award recipient. The Advocate for the Arts award is presented yearly to honor one individual or organization that has made remarkable contributions to the growth and advancement of the arts in the Dallas community. The award will be presented at CCGD’s annual Gala & Auction, which takes place April 22, 2018 at the Dallas Petroleum Club.

Kevin Hurst, Director of Charitable Giving for Neiman Marcus Group, will accept the award on Neiman Marcus’ behalf.

Hurst remarked, “In 2013, we made a philanthropic shift in our funding priority and established the Heart of Neiman Marcus Foundation. Our goal is to align with organizations that provide youth arts education and experiences. The Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas is an exceptional organization; one that that trains young voices to create brilliant music while providing an environment of discipline, inclusion, and self-confidence. In 2017 alone, our funding reached over 2.1 million students across the country. I am honored for Neiman Marcus to be recognized as its Advocate for the Arts.”

Hurst is very active in all aspects of the North Texas nonprofit community, and oversees the strategic direction of the Neiman Marcus’ charitable donations. Since moving to Dallas in 2013 from Chicago, Hurst has become ingrained in the community and serves on several arts-related boards and advisory committees; including Business Council for the Arts, TITAS, Neiman Marcus Credit Union, SPARK Dallas, Dallas Symphony Orchestra and was previously on the TACA grants panel.

“This award is a fitting tribute to the incredible impact Neiman Marcus has on the arts and the Dallas community,” said Megan Heber, CCGD’s executive director. “For decades, Neiman Marcus has been a champion for nonprofits. Their support provides us with the critical resources we need to empower our students to have a lifetime of creative thinking, innovative problem solving and powerful self-expression. Neiman Marcus is a true advocate for the arts, and is helping transform Dallas from livable to truly lovable. We are honored to recognize them with this award.”

The award will be presented at CCGD’s Gala & Auction on April 22, 2018 at the Dallas Petroleum Club. Funds raised from the event will support CCGD’s tuition assistance program, Summer Singing Camp, in-school concerts at Dallas areas schools, and community concerts in the greater Dallas area.
