The Rosemary Heffley Memorial Scholarship
Rosemary Heffley, a beloved founder of CCGD, passed away on January 29, 2019.
A past-president of Texas Choral Directors Association (TCDA), Rosemary was a visionary music educator. For 17 years, Rosemary taught choral music at Mesquite High School. Upon retirement from public school teaching, she taught music education and choral singing at Texas Christian University, University of North Texas, and Southern Methodist University. Rosemary was also the founder of Mesquite Civic Chorus. From adults to children, students all, no matter the level of understanding—music through Rosemary was a cherished gift. Rosemary was instrumental in CCGD's founding and ensured that choral artistry and diversity were at the heart of the organization's mission. Rosemary knew that children were capable of creating beautiful music—a key philosophy that still guides CCGD today. There is no better way to honor Rosemary than by ensuring her legacy lives on with The Rosemary Heffley Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to a CCGD senior who plans to pursue a degree in music beginning in 2020. Throughout her life, Rosemary made an immeasurable impact on the lives of countless students. Please join CCGD in honoring Rosemary by giving the gift of music education. |
