Developed and led by CCGD Artistic Director, Cynthia Nott, Vocal Arts Camp will provide singers with the opportunity to delve deeper into the world of choral singing. Singers will:
- participate in multiple large group choral rehearsals each day to study and perform choral works from all classical music eras and learn about music history and performance practice;
- be divided into age-appropriate small voice classes to learn two classical solo pieces (including one piece in a foreign language) and one Broadway solo, all of which may be used for future auditions and/or UIL Solo and Ensemble;
- take beginner, intermediate, or advanced sightsinging and music theory courses (placement based on proficiency);
- attend guest presentations, including “The Healthy Musician” presented by Orpheus Chamber Singers Artistic Director Donald Krehbiel and “So You Want to be A Musician?” presented by CCGD Youth Chorus conductor Nora Henson;
- visit SMU’s nationally-recognized Meadows Museum;
- perform a free concert at the end of the week.
