HIGH SCHOOL AUDITIONS

2021-22 HIGH SCHOOL AUDITIONS

for singers entering 9th-12th grade in 2021-22
We are thrilled that you are interested in joining Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas (CCGD)- one of the nation’s largest and most prestigious youth choral arts program. We offer a variety of ensembles for students based on their prior knowledge and ability level. Please visit our CHORUSES page for information on each ensemble that you have the opportunity to be a part of. 

*DUE TO COVID-19, ALL HIGH SCHOOL AUDITIONS FOR THE 2021-22 SEASON WILL BE VIDEO AUDITIONS.*

​Our auditions scheduled in May have completed.  If you have a student who is interested in auditioning, please email Susan Tomlinson at susan@thechildrenschorus.org to have your student's name put on a waiting list She will contact you when additional audition dates are finalized.  Please include your student's name and 2021-22 grade in the email.  Students who will be in grades 4-12 during the 2021-22 school year are eligible to audition. Tuition assistance is available for families with financial need.

Before submitting your audition video, complete the Information Form and select one of the audition repertoire options listed below. 

Applications are not complete until we receive both the Information Form AND audition video.

AUDITION VIDEO INSTRUCTIONS


  • You will submit only one recorded video.
  • All auditions will be submitted online using Flip Grid.
  • Click HERE to submit your video recording. You can access the grid directly from this link or by downloading the app to your phone or tablet. If prompted for a grid name and password, please use (case sensitive): CCGDauditions). 
  • All submitted videos should be titled with your name, phone number, email address, and grade you will be entering next year.

New or returning CCGD singers must choose one of the following options for your audition video. 

Option A: "My Country ‘Tis of Thee"
  1. Please state your name, phone number, email address, grade you will be entering next year, and the piece and key in which you will be singing (high/med/low).
  2. Sing verse one of “My Country Tis of Thee” in one of the three keys that is most comfortable for you. Key options include: High - A Major; Medium - Eb Major; Low - C Major.
  3. Use the provided mp3 accompaniment via the buttons on the right (or below on a mobile device). Each accompaniment track includes a short musical introduction before the song begins.
  4. This does not need to be memorized.

​Option B: Repertoire from CCGD 2020-21 Season
  1. Please state your name, phone number, email address, grade you will be entering next year, and the piece you will be singing.
  2. Sing one of the marked excerpts from one of the pieces. The cuts of the music are written on the music accessible via the buttons on the right (or below on a mobile device).
  3. Use the provided mp3 accompaniment via the buttons on the right (or below on a mobile device). Each accompaniment track includes a short musical introduction before the song begins.
  4. This does not need to be memorized.

​Option C: Classical Song or Hymn With Accompaniment
  1. Please state your name, phone number, email address, grade you will be entering next year, and the piece you will be singing.
  2. Sing a classical song of your choice using a recorded accompaniment of your own. You might choose a piece you are working on with your private voice teacher or a piece you sang in a Solo & Ensemble contest.
  3. Pop songs and songs from musical theatre are not appropriate for this setting.
  4. This may be in any language and does not need to be memorized.

Option D: Classical Song or Hymn Without Accompaniment
  1. Please state your name, phone number, email address, grade you will be entering next year, and the piece you will be singing.
  2. Sing a classical song or hymn of your choice without accompaniment. Please choose a piece you sang in a choir or one that is appropriate for Solo & Ensemble contest.
  3. Pop songs and songs from musical theatre are not appropriate for this setting.
  4. This does not need to be memorized. ​
